Honoring Our Ancestors

Dance with the energies of those who have come before us, those who paved the way, those who (when we pay attention) are often offering guidance and support.
But also dance with the energies of those who will come after us. Those who rely on what we leave them, those who inspire us to be better stewards of this world.

Halloween, All Hollow's Day, Dia de los Muertos... all are holidays to honor the spirit world and our lineage of ancestors. They are also an opportunity to heal ancestral wounds. On these days we are invited to acknowledge the interconnected line of souls forwards and backwards in time that places us where we are in the present.

Whether your lineage brings you great strength and pride or it is a tender spot that could use healing, this workshop is for you. When we connect with those who have come before us and those who come after us we ourselves are empowered.

We will begin with Qoya (yoga, dance, and feminine movement) to explore the awareness we have of our lineage. We will then gather for a Despacho Ceremony, a tradition passed down from the Q'ero Shamans of the Andes, to bring us back into "ayni" or right relationship with our environment and network of support.

I welcome you to bring an item for our altar to honor your lineage. This can be a picture, a clothing item, or any other memento that has meaning for you. Our altar will remain at the studio from the date of our gathering, October 28 to the following Saturday, November 4th.

Come as you are. There are no levels in Qoya and no pre-requisites for this gathering.
